South Africa’s only dedicated human rights film event, the Tri-Continental Film Festival (TCFF), will take place between 9 and 25 September in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria.

This year’s event, as in the past nine years, will play a significant role in creating a sustainable and continually growing audience for social justice cinema through film selection that is nuanced, relevant, informative and well-balanced. TCFF looks for films that promote democratisation, deepen understanding, and give a substantive voice to the marginalised which is now more vital than ever in a rapidly transforming world.

Running alongside the TCFF is the People to People International Documentary Conference, which will be held from 12 to 14 September in Johannesburg.

In the space of a few years P2P has earned a solid reputation for lively debate, community building and all-round good fun. This year’s event promises a dynamic programme dedicated to the art, business and technology of documentary.

The 2011 line-up will offer master-classes, screening and conversation sessions, panel discussions and debates and networking and social events not to be missed.

People to People is excited to present the first ever Good Pitch² as well as an extraordinary line-up of speakers from the local, continental and international documentary community.
