According to WPP-owned research company Millward Brown, Apple became the world’s most powerful brand in 2010 and beat Google to the post in its annual global brand power list, Brandz. Apple was in third spot in 2009 while Google had been in top spot for four consecutive years.
Millward Brown estimates that Apple’s value has increased by 84% to $153bn. Much of the growth is attributed to the iPad, with iPhone sales also a positive factor.
Apple’s buzz factor, calculated by mentions on blogs, message boards and tweets, put it fourth behind Google, Facebook and Microsoft.
