In just two weeks of release, Paradise Stop (40 prints), the new South African film from the team that made the hit comedy White Wedding, has made R1.2m at the local box office, which bodes well for a successful run. It was in 10th spot in the Combined Top 10 for the weekend of 1 to 3 April.
Paradise Stop stars popular actors Kenneth Nkosi and Rapulana Seiphemo, who co-wrote the film with director Jann Turner.
There were two other South African films on release over the weekend – the horror film Night Drive (2 prints), which has been on release for five weeks and has made R146,604 and Getroud Met Rugby (6 prints), which has made R1.3m in four weeks of release.
