The winner in the Film category of the Creative Circle 2010 Ad of the Year Awards was the acclaimed Aids reversal commercial, Selinah, produced for the Topsy Foundation by Egg Productions from a concept by Ogilvy Johannesburg.
In announcing the winners on 24 March at The Venue, Melrose Arch, Johannesburg, Creative Circle chair Brett Morris said that it was very clear from the calibre of winners that South Africa’ creative industry is world class.
“Creatives are certainly going all out in pursuit of new and innovative ideas that push boundaries and that’s exciting,’ said Morris.
Primedia Unlimited, sponsors of the Ad of the Year, highlighted the opportunities available for ambient media and the growth of this category over the years.
“Ambient media has grown to deliver half of outdoor ad spend and has to be distinguished from Alternative media which is a once off event. As a media owner we are proud to be sponsors of these awards and to get an opportunity to talk directly to many of the key decision makers who are directly involved in many media ideas,’ said Ken Varejes, Primedia Unlimited CEO.
The 2010 Loeries Annual was also officially launched at the awards. The book showcases all 2010 Loerie winners, from Grand Prix to Crafts, as well as the special awards received during the ceremonies in Cape Town. It contains an extensive index of the winning agencies, brands, production companies and individual creative credits, so readers can search easily to find the best talent across a multitude of disciplines.
