The Martin Lawrence comedy, Big Mommas: Like Father Like Son (62 prints), took top honours at the South African box office for the week 25 to 3 March. It made R2.4m in its first week of release.
In second spot was the high performing animated Rapunzel yarn, Tangled (including 3D) (79 prints) which took R1.8m for the week, bringing its cumulative earnings to R16.2m.
Oscar winner The King’s Speech (25 prints) was in third spot with R1.3m. It has made R3.9m to date.
In fourth and fifth spots were How do you know (44 prints) and Black Swan (25 prints), which made R862,651 and R646,056 respectively. Their cumulative box office figures are R2.1m and R3.4m.
New release The Fighter (40 prints), for which Christian Bale won the Best Supporting Actor award, was in sixth spot and made R639,469.
