Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have announced that Diane Lane will join the cast for the upcoming Superman movie as Martha Kent, “the only mother Clark Kent has ever known’.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the actress joins British actor and star of The Tudors Henry Cavill who was recently announced as the new Clark Kent/Superman.
“This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman,” director Zack Snyder said in a statement.
The movie is set for release in December 2012, and is produced by Christopher Nolan, Charles Roven, Emma Thomas and Deborah Snyder.
