Trevor Ou Tim writes … MTV Networks Africa celebrated its 6th birthday in style at The Venue in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg on 22 February.
Clients and partners of the Africa branch of the famous US MTV network, were treated to snacks and drinks, while rocking to the performances of great South African bands like Prime Circle, Liquideep, Zakes Batwini, Teargas and Zonke. DJs Biz, C-Live, Zinhle and DJ Cleo later took to the decks to keep the dance floor pumping. Glitz and glam were the order of the day.
Deputy VP and MD of MTV Networks Africa Alex Okosi, was introduced onstage by MTV’s famous animated characters, Beavis & Butthead, who appeared on-screen. Okosi welcomed and thanked all present for their involvement, saying that MTV Networks covers all ages from four to 40, starting from the cartoon channel Nickelodeon for kids, through to M-TV for teens and early 20’s, to VH1 for more mature audiences.
He also hinted at an exciting "humorous" new development happening in the near future – possibly a new channel to be added to the network. Watch this space.
