Accra-based Modern African Productions (MAP), a subsidiary of Modern Times Group (MTG AB), has signed an agreement with Dutch entrepreneur John de Mol’s Talpa Media to co-produce all Talpa’s international formats in several African countries. The formats include genres such as reality, game show and scripted shows.
This is an exclusive cooperation agreement for Sub Saharan Africa, excluding Angola and South Africa. The deal was signed at Discop Accra on 11 February.
Talpa Media’s catalogue encompasses several formats that could do very well in many African countries, such as “The Voice Of…’, “I Love My Country’, “Battle Of The Choirs’ and “Sing It’.
In the past year Talpa Media set up co-operation deals with other local partners active in the TV markets of France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, the US, Australia, New Zealand, North Africa and The Middle East, Scandinavia and Finland.
MAP’s focus is on entertainment with a strong interactive component. It oversees the complete production chain, from paper format to (mobile) studio hardware. The company is planning to roll out its activities by offering a wide range of local productions to both English speaking countries like Nigeria and Tanzania and the French speaking region with countries like Senegal and Congo.
