The 13th edition of the Encounters South African International Documentary Festival will take place from 9 to 26 June 2011 in Cape Town and Johannesburg. The festival will include Q&As with filmmakers, Master Classes, Workshops and Industry events.
Encounters includes an award component – the Audience Award for Best South African Film and the Audience Award for Best International Film.
Festival organisers are calling for entries from South African and international filmmakers. Due to the extraordinary number of entries submitted each year Encounters has decided to charge a nominal submission fee of US$15. Entry for African films is free. The deadline for submissions is 20 March 2011.
Encounters is the only South African distributor dedicated to distributing documentaries to the South African public. Encounters makes sales of films to television, theatrically and on DVD.
