For over 20 years, Nedbank Green Trust in partnership with the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) have been supporting environmental projects in South Africa. To date over R100 million has been raised in support of a 170 projects.
To mark the 20th anniversary celebration of the Green Trust, Nedbank commissioned Green Renaissance, the environmental division of African Renaissance Productions, to develop a series of short films to bring some of these environmental projects to life.
“We were really excited when asked to produce this series of short documentary films for this noble cause,’ says Michael Raimondo, director at Green Renaissance.
Raimondo says the timeframe was tight as they had to turn around five short films shot in locations across South Africa in three weeks. The editor had to cut during the filming process.
The documentaries tie-in with Nedbank’s latest marketing campaign, “Things don’t happen on their own. Make things happen’.
“It is not often as film makers that you get to work for a corporate and have the opportunity to tell real, authentic documentary stories,’ says Raimondo. “The characters we filmed were ordinary people who have gone out of their way to make things happen. What is even more impressive is that there are another 165 projects out there whose stories have not yet been captured on film.’
Nedbank will use these documentaries in their bank branches across South Africa, online on the Nedbank Green website as well as in viral marketing and social networking campaigns.
