Apartheid doccie wins at IDA Awards

The Distinguished Limited Series Award documentary at the International Documentary Assn.’s 2010 IDA Awards, which was held on Friday 3 December, went to Connie Field for her 7-film series Have You Heard from Johannesburg, about the campaign to end apartheid.

Lucy Walker‘s Waste Land was named best feature documentary at the International Documentary Assn.’s 2010 IDA Awards held at the DGA Theatre in Los Angeles.

The documentary looks at a giant Rio de Janeiro trash dump through the eyes of artist Vik Muniz.

Waste Landis also on the list of 15 documentaries that are being considered for an Academy Award in the feature documentary category.

Kiran Deol’s Woman Rebel, the account of a female soldier in the Nepal’s People’s Liberation Army, took home the Distinguished Short Film Award.
