Cineuropa reports that on 23 November, concert halls, cinemas, circuses, theatres and film sets in Italy shut down for the day as part of a general strike to protest against cuts to the 2011 Budget law.
Some 250,000 professionals participated in the strike which was organised by industry unions Slc-Cgil, Fistel-Cisl and Uilcom-Uil
In Rome entertainment industry representatives held an assembly to ask for the recovery of sate monies through the Entertainment Industry Fund (FUS) which has been reduced to €288m (in 2008 it was at €450m), the restoration of tax incentives and a stop to the delocalisation of film and television productions abroad.
