The South Africa is the backdrop for Watercolors of Love, a Globo TV International telenovela that has already been sold to 12 countries.
The telenovela filmed its first scenes in South Africa, and this formed the setting for the love story between Dafne (Flavia Alessandra, Alzira in Two Faces) and Gabriel (Malvino Salvador, Damiao in The Favorite). They have strong personalities but come from different social classes. They fall in love and go through many ups and downs as the drama unfolds.
During the recording in South Africa, apart from the TV Globo team, the production relied on a South African team which included local producers and technicians. The professionals responsible for the costumes and art production made use of local stores to improve the “safari look’, which was especially created for the scenes recorded in the country. Locations include the cities Cullinan, Hartbeespoort and Sun City.
Written by Walcyr Carrasco, internationally known for works such as Pepper Chocolate, Soul Mate and Seven Sins. Watercolors of Love was a success in Brazil where it attained 34 points and a 57% audience share.
