Visitors to the Eurovision TV stand at MIPCOM, the premier global content market taking place in Cannes this week, will be able to see The Magic Circus Show, a 100-minute prime-time family show involving children from all over Europe.

This newest co-production from Eurovision TV is an entertainment programme to be broadcast during the holiday season at the end of each year. It is a rich mix of diverse circus acts involving children with a special circus talent from various European countries. Each participating TV channel holds a casting session for children from circus schools, resulting in a selection of three acts per country.  With the help of their teacher or coach, these acts then prepare their performances individually or together. The ultimate goal is to take part in a circus show recorded in Geneva under the real big top of the Christmas Circus. The gala will consist of at least 18 acts and the show will be accompanied by the Magic Circus Orchestra.

The host broadcaster is Radio Television Suisse (RTS) with Executive Producer Damien Ottet from 7 Street Productions.  Coproducers include France 3, RTP (Portugal), RTR (Russia), RTS (Switzerland), TROS (Netherlands), VRT Ketnet (Belgium).  The show has already been pre-acquired by RAI (Italy) and RTVSLO (Slovenia) .This is only the beginning as an even broader range of Members have already shown a strong interest in “sharing the magic’ by taking part in the show next year.

“This is a true first for circus shows – a format that has never been made before,’ says Nadja Burkhardt, Eurovision TV Project Manager for The Magic Circus Show. “EBU Members have embraced this project with great enthusiasm from its inception.’
