Charlize Theron options remake of Dutch film

Oscar winner Charlize Theron has taken the rights for the remake to Dutch writer/director Elbert van Strien’s Two Eyes Staring, a movie originally named Zwart Water in the Netherlands.

According to Dutch sources, Theron has arranged meetings with “A-list directors” for the remake of the movie.

The original Dutch feature starred British born Barry Atsma alongside Hadewych Minis, Isabelle Stokkel and Bart Slegers. It was recently screened at a number of festivals, including the Edinburgh International Film Festival, Fantasy Filmfest in Germany and the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival,

Written by van Strien and Paulo van Vliet, Two Eyes Staring tells the story of a nine-year-old girl who discovers her sinister friend is the ghost of her mother’s dead twin.
