Last week, Ogilvy Johannesburg won the inaugural Robyn Putter Top Brand Agency of the Year award at the annual Sunday Times Top Brands Awards. The award is named after former Ogilvy SA CEO and Ogilvy Worldwide Board Director who passed away earlier this year.
A host of Ogilvy’s clients, including BP, KFC, Nike, Cadbury chocolates and Coke – who were Brand of the Year winners in their categories contributed to the agency scooping the ultimate accolade at the end of the night.
The theme for this year’s awards was “what a year, what a country, what a brand’, and showcased the iconic brands South Africans are most proud of. The results of the study by TNS Research Surveys, that gathered the opinions of 3500 South African consumers and 400 South African business leaders, clearly showed that those brands that continued to advertise during the tough times came out as the clear winners this year.
“The overall winners on the night were those brands that have managed to build strong, liberated brands, and tap into the sense of South African pride we have been feeling in the run up to the World Cup,’ explains Julian Riberio, MD of Ogilvy Johannesburg.
“For us as an agency to have won the inaugural Robyn Putter award is an incredible honour,’ says Nunu Ntshingila, Ogilvy’s CEO. “Robyn strongly believed in the power of creativity and imagination to engage consumers, and we are thrilled that our work and our clients have been recognised for having achieved just that.’
