The ceremonies of the 2009 South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAS) are now available on a two-DVD set from the National Film and Video Foundation, the custodian of the awards.
Hosted by comedian John Vlismas, the star-studded 4th Annual SAFTAS took place on 20 February this year at the State Theatre in the city of Tshwane. Honouring the best in South African film and television, the winners walked away with the coveted Golden Horn Award.
Entertainment included homegrown musical talent Just Jinger, MXO and Jamali with Ndumiso on the trumpet.
Moving tributes to Life Time Achievers – Katinka Heyns, Joe Mafela and Dr John Kani were a highlight of the evening.
The 5th SAFTAS will be held in 2011, entries are still open for Feature Films and Lifetime Achievement Awards. The closing date for the two categories is 31st of December 2010.
