The popular international talent search format, POPSTARS, is returning to South Africa in a locally produced version on free-to-air commercial channel, e.tv.

As from Saturday 4 September at 6.05pm, viewers will get to see talented youngsters audition before a group of judges consisting of musical legends PJ Powers and Zwai Bala and DJ Azania Ndoro to become part of a brand new pop group.

The launch episode, called POPSTARS Special, kicks off with South African host Martin Phike taking viewers through the POPSTARS legacy and how this show has become such a powerhouse in the world of entertainment television. The episode will feature international POPSTARS winners and will take a look back at the unprecedented success of POPSTARS East Africa, as well as the inside story on the POPSTARS HOUSE.

POPSTARS Extra, the weekly highlights package airing every Wednesday as of 15 September, delves into the personalities of those people that make POPSTARS great: the contestants, the production team and the judges as the series travels across the country. Viewers can look forward to impromptu interviews with contestants, sneak-peaks at what the judges are up to behind the scenes and the toils that the crew need to go through to organise such a production.
