Albertus Aochamub has been appointed Director-General of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC). Formerly head of Corporate Affairs at Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC), Aochamub also known for his marketing skills, also worked at First National Bank.
The Namibian cabinet approved Aochamub’s appointment as of 1 August 2010.
After a very thorough recruitment process, which tested the competencies, qualifications, experience, key outputs, measurements, skills, attributes, as well as the affirmative action status, Mr Albertus Aochamub was the most successful candidate from a list of 12 applicants," said NBC board chairman Sven Thieme.
Aochamub has nearly 12 years of senior management experience in the Namibian communications and financial services industries. His experience will be a critical building block in driving the transformation agenda of NBC into the future, Thieme added.
Aochamub is the ninth DG of the NBC in its 20-year history of existence. He replaces Yvonne Boois, who has been acting in that capacity since January this year. She in turn replaced Mathew Gowaseb, who left the NBC after his contract ended at the beginning of the year.
