Bang Bang Club at Toronto

The Canada-South Africa co-production, The Bang Bang Club, is to have its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. Directed by Steven Silver, the film is based on the real-life experiences of four photographers who captured the final days of apartheid in South Africa.

Co-producers are Canada’s Foundry Films and South Africa’s Out of Africa Entertainment. The Bang Bang Club stars Ryan Phillippe, Taylor Kitsch, Frank Rautenbach, Neels van Jaarsveld and Malin Ackerman.

The France-Belgium-Chad co-production, A Screaming Man, directed by Chadian Mahamat-Saleh Haroun, will have its North American premiere at Toronto. A Screaming Man was awarded the Special Jury Prize at the recent Cannes International Film Festival.

High profile directors whose films will be screened at Cannes include Robert Redford, Michael Winterbottom, Julian Schnabel, Darren Aronofsky, Stephen Frears, Woody Allen, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and Mike Leigh.
