Hollywood job outlook positive

Job recovery in Hollywood’s film and TV sector is showing good momentum, according to the Los Angeles Economic Development Corp (LEDC). As long as there are no industry strikes, then the LEDC predicts similar job gains for next year.

As reported in The Hollywood Reporter, LEDC is looking for an increase of about 15,000 jobs in 2011. However, it warns that all the Hollywood labour contracts expire in the middle of next year, and if there are unresolved negotiations for new contracts, then there might be strikes.

Screen Africa readers will recall the crippling effects on Hollywood of the 100-day Writers Guild of America strike in 2007/08.
