The Southern African Broadcasting Association (SABA) will host its 18th General Conference in Luanda, Angola from 13 to 14 September this year. Associated SABA meetings (board of directors, specialised committees, AGM) will take place on 12 September.
Radio Nacional de Angola (RNA) will host the General Conference at the Victoria Garden Hotel & Conference in the heart of Luanda.
Says SABA Secretary General Arlindo Lopes: “The theme for this year’s conference is “Striving for better content in a digital era’. The digital migration currently underway in Africa brings about content challenges for broadcasters. It is therefore appropriate for SABA members to discuss ways to increase the quantity and quality of their content for multiple channels and audiences in the near future.’
The Director General of RNA adds: “We are determined to make the SABA AGM 2010 a milestone in the history of our organisation, which has increasing responsibilities in the development of broadcasting in Southern Africa and beyond. This will also be an opportunity to address some of the challenges that members are facing with digitisation to fulfill SABA’s mission of “promoting quality broadcasting by enhancing professionalism and the credibility of public service broadcasting in the countries of the region’.’
