Mail & Guardian reports that the BBC has been drowned in about 220 complaints from viewers of its FIFA World Cup broadcast. It seems the viewers can’t cope with the trumpet-like sound of the South African soccer fan accessory, the vuvuzela.
Consequently, the broadcaster is reportedly trying to figure out how it can provide a vuvuzela-free feed. This would mean stripping out most of the crowd sounds during each match. In effect, a mute option.
