Hubert Bals Fund chooses Durban FilmMart

The Durban FilmMart, the African co-production and finance market that will have its inaugural edition from 23 to 26 July, has been selected by the Hubert Bals Fund Netherlands as one of 29 recipients around the world to receive an award of Û5 000 (approximately R50 000). It will be presented in the Specialist Projects category at Durban FilmMart.

Says Toni Monty of the Durban Film Office (DFO), co-organisers of the Durban FilmMart: ‘We are honoured to have received this funding fromthe Hubert Bals Fund, which will be awarded to the best project presented in the Finance Forum. Fifteen of the 80 project submissions we received for the Durban FilmMart will be selected to participate in this Forum.

"Leading up to the inaugural Durban FilmMart, the international support has been very pleasing and confirmation of the Hubert Bals Fund Award is a significant development in terms of building strategic partnerships for future Durban FilmMarts."

The Hubert Bals Fund, which along with CineMart is part of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, annually selects film-related projects in the areas of script development, digital production, post production, distribution or workshops to receive grants. In the Spring 2010 selection, the Fund has given 450,000 Euros to projects from 22 countries.
