The Muppets from South Africa’s much loved children’s series, Takalani Sesami, will show their support for the 2010 Fifa World Cup by learning the diski dance, the latest dance craze to hit the country, at a street party in Houghton held on 4 June
The diski dance emanates from a South African Tourism TV commercial and comprises a series of choreographed soccer moves.
Professional dancers will teach the Muppets, staff members from SABC Education, Sanlam Developing Markets (SDM) and other local businesses the diski moves.
SDM will also hold a blood drive, sponsored by the Blood Bank during the street party. South Africa has a severe blood shortage and this is an opportune occasion to boost the blood donation drive.
The festivities will take place in West Street, between 1st Avenue and Houghton Drive from 11am to 3pm.
