On 28 May, Malawian finance minister Ken Kandodo Banda announced that the state-owned Malawi Television Limited (TVM) would be dissolved. The broadcaster’s functions are to be integrated into the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC).
The announcement formed part of the Minister’s budget speech. He said that TVM was one of the public entities established by the government to provide services which had proved to be ineffective. As a result the government had decided to streamline these parastatal entities.
