More 3D for Nu Metro

In line with the current global trend towards all things 3D, 11 more RealD 3D screens are to be added to the Nu Metro Cinemas circuit in South Africa. As part of this expansion, Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein and Nelspruit are to receive their first ever 3D screens. The new screens will become operational by the end of May.

Other new 3D sites include Clearwater Mall in the West of Johannesburg and the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.

Says Content Executive for Nu Metro Cinemas Mark Harris: “We are Africa’s leading 3D cinema chain, currently with 14 dedicated screens around the country and boasting the world’s largest RealD 3-D screen at Nu Metro Montecasino in Johannesburg (77 feet).’

Nu Metro’s upcoming 3D releases in June and July are Toy Story 3 and Shrek Forever After. Some 20 3D films in total are slated for release for the remainder of 2010.

Riverside – Nelspruit (one 3-D screen)

Emperors Palace – Johannesburg (three 3-D screens)

The Glen – Johannesburg (two 3-D screens)
Hyde Park – Johannesburg (one 3-D screen)
Menlyn Park – Pretoria (two 3-D screens)
Pavilion – Durban (two 3-D screens)
Galleria – Durban (two 3-D screens)
