A former construction engineering student has been chosen to present SABC Education’s life skills show for children aged four to nine, Rivoningo. Twenty-three year old Jabi Matsoso will host Rivoningo (weekdays on SABC2 at 10h30) together with two robot characters, Lelo and Keke. Rivoningo broadcasts until 28 September this year.

Matsoso describes herself as a creative conceptualist who loves to put things together and who loves being in front of the camera. In 2004 she graduated in construction engineering in Pretoria, obtaining two distinctions. She was also the only female in her class to graduate.

“I had been for many auditions in the TV industry and in 2007 I was chosen to present Imagine That! on SABC2. This opportunity changed my life and I didn’t hesitate to put engineering behind me for good. My new career in the media includes writing, research, communication, art design, acting and script translations. Having worked on several projects both behind the camera and in front of the camera has opened doors of endless possibilities’.

Among many productions, Matsoso worked on Walk like a Man, Masechaba, Heartlines, Burning the Bridges, Managing your Money and Be Financially Smart. She says “Rivoningo has been my favourite. It is great to share the love for reading and writing on the show.  The show also teaches numeracy for children in the foundation phases of learning’.
