Soico-STV, will broadcast four titles from Globo TV International’s catalogue during the month of April. The telenovela that has already triumphed in 90 countries, India – A Love Story, was premiered on 12 April. With an investment of US$ 50 million, this is the most expensive production in the history of Globo and highlights the differences between the customs and traditions of Brazilian and Indian culture and shows that love can overcome any obstacle.
Maysa – When the Heart Sings, the 2009 International Emmy nominee miniseries, will also go on air in April. Based on real life and directed by Jayme Monjardim from The Clone, the production tells the story of Brazilian singer Maysa, who at 17 years of age, full of dreams and hopes, marries the love of her life: Andre Matarazzo, the powerful businessman with whom she has her only son Jayme (who directs the series). The marriage, however, doesn’t endure the demands of her career, just as the relationship between mother and son is undermined.
The miniseries Antonia, a partnership production between TV Globo and O2 Filmes – a famous indie producer worldwide recognized by City of God movie – premiered on 12 April. Antonia tells the story of four big city ghetto girls. Dreamers,who decide to form a rap group.
Finally, Soico-STV will air The Maias, inspired by the book of 19th-century Portuguese writer Eça de Queiroz, also known for The Crime of Father Amaro and Cousin Basilio. The miniseries, written by Maria Adelaide Amaral and with Luiz Fernando Carvalho directing (from Terra Nostra), includes recognized stars from Brazilian drama like Ana Paula Arosio (Terra Nostra) and Osmar Prado (India – A Love Story).
