3D films rake in the bucks

As at 28 March, James Cameron’s 3D epic Avatar had made R55.6m at the South African box office, after 15 weeks. According to Box Office Mojo, the film’s worldwide gross is $742,332,678 (compared to Titanic’s gross of $600,788,188).

Meanwhile, back at the South African box office, Alice in Wonderland (including 3D) had made R17.6m after four weeks.

The biggest performer over the weekend in question was the new animated release, How to Train Your Dragon, which made R2.6m.

The South African films Jozi had made R782,188 and Skin just over R1m.
