Proving again that the entertainment business thrives in recessionary times, cinema ticket sales in the Netherlands in 2009 were up by 15.25% compared to the previous year. Cineuropa reports that a total of 27.2m tickets were sold during 2009.
Ticket sales for Dutch-made feature films went up from 4.2m in 2008 to 4.73m in 2009.
The most popular film at the Dutch box office in 2009 was Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, followed by Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.
