Take another Biscuit …
A second – and generous! – portion of the popular cooking series Take a Biscuit goes on air Saturday, the 5th of December on SABC2.
The second series of Take a Biscuit which aired on SABC2 on Saturday 5 December is back. This time it gives the “man in the street’ a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to become a television cook for a day. National ads invited viewers to apply online to be a guest cook in their very own episode of the series and the response was overwhelming. Auditions were held in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Durban and filming took place on location at various cooking schools in those cities. The series successfully combines reality with comedy, fiction and food. The result? Highly entertaining viewing that is also informative and interesting for viewers who are keen to prepare fabulous party food.
The production company behind this successful series is 2 Blonds and a Redhead Filming with veteran executive producer Anne Myers and director Peter Heaney of 9mm films.
Popular actress Lizz Meiring hosts the show – and also brings her unique, quirky comedy style to the table which naturally, creates loads of jeopardy-combined-with-funky-glamour in the kitchen. As in season 1, Boeta (stand-up comedian Brendan Murray) plays the chef with a small heart and a big repertoire of one-liners. In spite of being nervous and unfamiliar on the television set, the guest cooks in each episode manage to create a feast of savory snacks and sweet temptations using Bakers and Pyotts Biscuits.
The series will be accompanied by an interactive website (www.takeabiscuit.co.za) allowing viewers to download the guest cook’s recipes and to purchase the stunning Take a Biscuit recipe book, which includes all the recipes from the first and second series, and more!
