A one-day Industry Anti-Piracy Campaign will take place in Johannesburg on Friday, 11 December, at the corner of Sauer and Bree Streets.
Initiated by newly launched legitimate distribution company Bliksem DVD’s, the campaign has the support of: City of Johannesburg (CoJ) Regional Director’s Office; the South African Police’s Against Copyright Theft commercial branch; South African Revenue Service (SARS); National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), Film and Publication Board (FPB), Gauteng Film Commission (GFC), South African Federation Against Copyright Theft (SAFACT); and the Independent Producers’ Organisation (IPO)
Bliksem’s Ben Horowitz is aiming to reach Christmas consumers with the campaign. “There are still organisations that have not confirmed their participation and we request that they do so as soon as possible. The more enforcement that takes place in the area on this coming weekend, the better. We’re hoping that the CoJ Regional Director’s Office will revive the campaign in 2010.’
Campaigners are asked to arrive between 8am and 9am and help set up in the marquee– there will be allocated parking.
