Director Jeremy Goodall of feelgoodfilms has shot two films, “Fireflies” and “Malaika”, based on the African anthemic ‘Malaika’ for ZK Advertising and client Zain.
The films were shot entirely in Johannesburg with Goodall’s usual crew and high end equipment, such as a techno crane. One of the challenges was to film on one of the coldest nights of winter and still make it look like a North African summer night.
For the “Fireflies” film Goodall insisted on the creation of authentic looking fireflies. It required several weeks of prep and proto type design with the 3D animators (Sphere). This was combined with in camera fireflies which were made up through AFM with the help of Sean Ryan. The dove-tailed techniques worked perfectly, says Goodall.
