Nigeria’s Minister of Information Dora Akunyili is encouraging local cinemas to stop screening the Peter-Jackson produced South African blockbuster District 9. The Minister has cited the reason as being the film’s portrayal of Nigerians as gangsters and cannibals.
There are currently 57 members of a Facebook page called “Nigerians Offended by District 9”.
