The Television Bureau of Advertising in the US reports that total broadcast TV ad revenue was down 12.8% in the second quarter compared to the same time last year. The biggest casualty was local broadcast ad sales which were down 27%.
A significant factor affecting ad sales has been the failing automotive sector, with automobile ads down 54.5% from a year ago. Broadcast networks’ revenue was down. 5.8%.
