Proving once again that the entertainment industry thrives in recessionary times, the US domestic summer box office has proved to be the highest grossing summer season in history. According to Variety, the total revenue for the season was $4.17bn, which beats the previous record holder – summer 2007 ($4.16bn).
The three biggest domestic performers were: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen ($399.4m), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince ($294.3m) and Up ($289.6m).
