It may have received dismal reviews overseas but the action sci-fi thriller G.I.Joe: The Rise of the Cobra made a blistering impact on the South African box office on its opening weekend (14 to 16 August) – it made R2.5m.
Surprisingly, the second placed film over the same weekend was the intense human drama, My Sister’s Keeper, which made R1.4m.
In third place was G-Force (including 3D) followed by The Proposal and Hangover.
