Two animated films (both including 3D) were among the top five biggest earners at the South African box office over the weekend of 31 July to 2 August. New release G-Force, about a specially trained squad of guinea pigs dispatched to stop a diabolical billionaire from taking over the world, debuted in top spot with R1.6m in takings for the weekend, while Ice Age 3 made R849,798 to take fourth spot. The latter has been on release for five weeks and has accumulated R23.5m.
The Ryan Reynolds/Sandra Bullock comedy The Proposal was second highest earner over the weekend in questions, with R1.2m. Harry Potter 6 was in third spot with R1m and The Hangover in fifth spot with R623,944. (Figures supplied by SAFACT)
