The animated Ice Age 3 (including 3D) is totally dominating the South African box office. In its first two weeks of release it had made R14.8m as at 12 July.
New release, The Proposal, a comedy starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, took an impressive R3.1m in its opening weekend (10 to 12 July).
In third spot over the same weekend was Transformers 2, followed by Hangover and Knowing.
Sascha Baron Cohen’s Bruno, a mockumentary in which he plays a gay Austrian fashionista, opened on the above weekend and took R781,817.
Meanwhile, the South African film White Wedding is inching ever closer to the R5m mark. As at 9 July it had made R4.935,581, which placed it in the number seven spot of Ster-Kinekors Top 8 for that week. It has been on release for 10 weeks. (Figures supplied by SAFACT)
