Following the release on 3 July of the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) Regulations by the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA), the National African Federated Chamber of Commerce and Industry Consortium (Nafcoc) is bringing a court application against ICASA’s decision to allocate 50% of Multiplex 3 to pay-TV broadcaster M-Net.
Nafcoc, a black business consortium, believes this decision will extend M-Net owner MultiChoice’s digital satellite TV monopoly to DTT. It maintains that some of the DTT spectrum should be allocated to black companies. (Source: Business Day)
