The first Production Awards for the City of Cape Town was organised by the Cape Film Commission (CFC). With six award categories and the Chairman’s Award, ‘The Imbongi Awards’ is a showcase of the best production talent and facilities in Cape Town and the Western Cape.
According to the CFC, ‘The Imbongi Awards’ capitalises on Cape Towns strong reputation for production craft by recognising, rewarding and honouring individuals and companies for outstanding achievement in pre-production, production and post-production. The winners were announced at a gala evening celebration held recently in Cape Town.
The 2009 Imbongi Award Winners are as follows
Best contribution to marketing Cape Town and the Western Cape through film
This Award recognises a person or project who has produced work that shows a considerable and concerted effort to market our Region
· 3 Investigators: Two Oceans Productions
Service Provider of the Year
This award recognises Cape Towns best Service Provider to the industry
· Media Film Services
Cape Towns Best Line Producer
This Award recognises Cape Towns best Line Producer
· Nina Heyns: Film Afrika for the film ‘Endgame’. ‘Endgame’ will be released in SA in May 2009.
Cape Towns Best Locations Professional
This award recognises Cape Towns best Locations Professional
· Robert Bentley
Excellence in VFX & Animation
This award recognises a person or company who has made considerable contribution to Cape Town through Animation
· Character Matters for ‘Lion of Judah’ (South Africa’s 1st CGI Long form feature film)
Cape Towns Best Post Producer
This award recognises Cape Towns best Post Production Producer
