The interactive future of radio and TV and the development of digital properties will be the focus of the Digital Media for Broadcasters Conference to be held on 13 and 14 May at the Wanderers Club in Johannesburg.
The convergence of radio and TV yield a greater multimedia offering with the potential to revolutionise a broadcaster’s bottom line. Specific topics at the conference will include Streaming, Podcasting and Online Video; Thinking out of the box; Tools to enable multimedia content; and Generating revenue from digital properties.
Delegates will be exposed to case studies from top international broadcasters. They will also learn to: fast-track strategic planning; identify how to develop an additional revenue stream, attract and retain listeners and viewers and drive them to the web to increase revenue; and achieve a sound technical understanding of the range of multimedia offerings available.
Speakers include representatives from local industry heavyweights such as Mail & Guardian Online, Draft FCB, Primedia Broadcasting, 5FM, Vodacom, Classic FM, Praekelt Consulting, Siemens, Chetty Law, Antfarm, Don’t Look Down Productions, Zoopy.com and YFM. International presentations will be from Czech Radio and RTE (Ireland).
There is also a separately bookable afternoon workshop for campus and community radio, which will focus on techniques for building digital media properties for community and campus stations, positioning a website as an effective community / campus tool and creating an online revenue stream for campus / community stations.
