Siemens IT Solutions and Services signed a contract at the beginning of April with the Technology division of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) to oversee the digital roll out process throughout all sections in SABC, including Radio.
Priority areas will be Final Control Centres (FCC), Main Control Centers (MCR), play out, storage and archiving libraries for easy access to anyone who needs the material. In conjunction with this, regional radio control centers are also on the list to complete the recent Radio Broadcast Facilities (RBF) digital upgrade.
The contract will ensure that Siemens will oversee, project manage, consult and acquire the correct equipment for SABC’s digital broadcasting roll out project until completion. Siemens, also bought out the Technology section of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), a few years back.
