South African political parties’ treatment of gender issues will come under the spotlight on Sunday, 5 April on SABC’s special election debate between 20:00 and 21:00.
Those confirmed for the debate are the IFP Women’s Brigade Chairperson Thembi Nzuza, while the DA will be represented by one of its National Assembly candidates, Lindiwe Mazibuko.
ANCWL president and Gauteng MEC for Education Angie Motshekga will face former comrade and now COPE’s candidate for Gauteng premiership Lyndall Shope-Mafole.
Chairperson of the Commission for Gender Equality Nomboniso Gasa and the University of Johannesburg’s Natasha Erlank will provide expert analysis of each party’s commitment to gender equality. Tim Modise will anchor the debate.
The debate will be broadcast live from the Sanlam Auditorium, University of Johannesburg. It will also be broadcast on SABC News International and SAFM.
Only members of the participating parties will be allowed into the auditorium and seats are allocated on the first-come-first-served basis.
