South African political parties contesting the country’s 22 April general elections have been given free time slots on SABC TV and radio stations. The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has announced that the free airtime period is effective from 25 March to 19 April,
There will bill four election broadcast slots each day, with 84 party election broadcasts in total.
Not all parties have the same number of slots though. Five slots have been given to the ANC, Cope, ID and ACDP, while the UDM has four. The DA, IFP and PAC have three slots each, MF and PAM two and WF one.
