In a new turn of events in the now very long and boring saga of the stalemated contract negotiations between the Screen Actors Guild of America (SAG) and the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers, some SAG members have called for a federal probe into the latter. The AMPTP comprises Hollywood studio and television network executives.
According to Variety, this latest move was motivated by SAG dissidents, most of who are from the Membership First faction.
There has been no official response from either the SAG board or the AMPTP as yet. The dissident faction believes the entertainment conglomerates control the industry to the detriment of SAG members who are below star level.
SAG’s feature-primetime contract expired on 30 June last year.
