Peter Kwele, GM: Strategic Marketing and Communiations with public broadcaster SABC’s Content enterprises unit, has been appointed as new head of the SABC 2010 project unit.
The appointment follows months of speculation. SABC Group Executive: SABC Content Enterprises Mvuso Mbebe says: “SABC’s delivery of the 2010 FIFA World Cup is of critical importance and I am positive that Peter’s experience within the corporation as well as his strategic approach will ensure that the SABC fulfils its mandate with regards to the world cup,”
Kwele started at the SABC in 2005 as SABC’s Corporate Marketing Manager. In 2007 he moved to the SABC Content Enterprises to start and head the divisional marketing unit. Kwele has a B.A. Honors Degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA and majored in International Affairs with a minor in Economics and Marketing.
“I am excited to be given this wonderful opportunity to head the SABC 2010 unit. The 2010 FIFA World Cup is a historical event for South Africa and for SABC as the official broadcaster. I am proud to be at the forefront of this event and I am certainly up for the challenge and determined to fly both the SABC and the South African flags high for the world to see and notice,” said Kwele.
