Florida Road is an independent movie produced by Brad Glass and scheduled to shoot in Durban in May 2009. The film also marks the directorial debut for Glass who has been working as an actor for most of his professional career in his native United States as well as Spain, Australia, Italy and South Africa.
Hollywood producer/ writer Fred Fontana wrote Florida Road from an original concept, suggested by Glass. He was a producer on such American hits as Soldier starring Kurt Russell and Vegas Vacation with Chevy Chase. His other feature credits include The Specialist with Sylvester Stallone and The Next Karate Kid with Hilary Swank. He recently produced the indie film Stone & Ed and has written for the television series Diagnosis Murder.
The handsomely popular Bollywood star Ashmit Patel with play the lead role of Shaan Sekhar, a mid 20’s Indian man with a heart of gold and a desire to write the next great Hollywood screenplay. The talented Bollywood actor Vipin Sharma, who co-starred in the Disney acquisition Taare Zameen Par which was recently submitted for an OSCAR nomination for best foreign film out of India, will portray Patel’s father, Raj, in the film..
Rounding out part of the Sekhar family will be South African actress Vicky Davis, who will portray Shaan’s sister-in-law, Charlene who is married to his older brother.
Corine Du Toit, the very popular RSA actress from the soap series Egoli will step into the role of an aspiring actress who meets Patel’s character Shaan at an audition and helps pave the way of his progression.
Local actor and comedian Cokey Falkow will play the part of Deon, the best friend of Patel’s character “Shaan’.
