The acclaimed and popular South African TV drama series, Khalo Matabane’s When We Were Black, has won the best drama TV / film award at the 21st International TV Encounters in Reims, France.
Produced by Carolyn Carew and Mandla Sibeko from Born Free Media, the series last year won seven awards at the South African Film and TV Awards (SAFTAS).
Says Carew: “In congratulating us, Vincent Garrigues, the cultural attache from the French Embassy in South Africa, says this is a very prestigious award for Khalo Matabane and comes with great recognition for his work and directorial vision.’
